What is the Expiry/Best Before Date?

You may be wondering how to interpret that little sticker on the bottom of our jars. No, it is not a ‘Best Before’ date. Instead it is a unique code we use to track when a product was made and which batch it came from. The code does not resemble a date so as not to be mistaken for an expiry date. ‘Best Before’ dates are not required on shelf stable products like ours, although many producers choose to use them. We feel however, the lack of regulations in Canada surrounding ‘Best Before’ dates and ‘Expiry’ dates cause far too much confusion and contributes to too many people throwing away perfectly good food. In an effort to help prevent unnecessary food waste we have opted to use batch codes rather than ‘Best Before’ dates.

So, what does this mean for you? Well, if you have forgotten about a jar in the back of your cupboard and are unsure, open it. If it smells funky or looks off, throw it out. Use your best judgment, but remember, that little sticker on the bottom was never going to tell you if a product had gone off anyway, only when it was ‘Best Before’. If you’re still unsure feel free to contact us with your batch number and we will be happy to look it up for you.

Do you have a retail location?

We do not currently have a retail location, however you can find our products at the Kelowna Farmer’s Market as well as many locations throughout the Okanagan Valley. Where can I purchase your products?

We attend many Farmer’s Markets, Craft Shows and Exhibitions throughout BC and Alberta at various times throughout the year. Visit our Exhibition

The product I want is out of stock how can I order more?

We do our best to keep our shelves fully stocked but our products are made the old fashioned way, in small batches, so we sometimes sellout quickly. Also many of our products rely on seasonal ingredients and are not available all year round. If there is a particular product that you haven’t seen available in a while please feel free to drop us an email and we’ll do our best to fulfill your order.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

Orders are shipped within 1-5 business days after an order is placed. The length of time in which you receive your order will depend on a few factors such as the shipping method you have selected, as well as the location of the shipping address.

Once opened how long can I expect it to stay delicious?

It’s no secret that we’ve been known to eat the whole jar in one sitting, but if you’d prefer to savor yours we won’t mind. Once opened, we recommend that our products be stored in the refrigerator and consumed within 6 months, although we don’t expect they’ll last that long. Dry Herb Mixes should be stored in a cool, dry cupboard or pantry once opened and will remain fresh for a year or longer. Herb Mixes that are past their prime wont make you sick, but will loose their flavour overtime.
